The GOATs are available and responsible for a variety of projects on federal, county, city and private lands; utilizing hand tools and small machinery and employing skills in trail design, layout and construction to create and maintain community outdoor recreation resources.
Current Projects
Rito Seco Park in Costilla CountyRito Seco Park is county-owned open space in the Sangre de Cristo Ranches housing development. It lies within the larger Green Belt open space and will host a series of trails that will connect the community to outdoor recreation opportunities. SLV GO! worked in conjunction with Costilla County to write a Colorado State Trails Grant which is funding 4 miles of single-track, multi-use trail that will connect to Battenburg Meadows in the summer of 2020. RAC Projects Baca RefugeThe Baca Refuge Trail connects the Colorado College campus in Crestone to the Baca Refuge Visitors Center. This trail is a roughly 1.5-miles-long crusher fine path that will provide residents and visitors opportunities for walking, running, and wildlife viewing. Alamosa Trail ProjectsIn conjunction with the city of Alamosa, SLV GO! has helped fund more than 8 miles of new trails since 2018. The GOATs will continue to assist the city with trail stewardship and improvements throughout the summer of 2020.
