COVID-19

The health of San Luis Valley communities and their residents is one of SLV GO!’s highest priorities. As COVID-19 cases heighten across Colorado and the rest of the world, we want to encourage you to continue to enjoy the outdoors while staying safe and considering your health and the health of those around you.

As you’ve likely heard, it is best to avoid large crowds and individuals who are displaying cold or flu like symptoms. So far, there has been no evidence that outdoor recreation conducted individually or in small, healthy groups will promote the spread of the virus.

Now more than ever it is important that we prioritize staying healthy. We’d like to encourage you to continue hiking, biking, and otherwise spending time outdoors and exercising. Numerous studies have shown that time outdoors can positively impact your health by providing increased exercise, vitamin D, fresh air, green light, and more. With these benefits in mind as well as beautiful, sunny weather and blue skies across the valley, there is no reason not to get outside.

We ask that as you do so, however, please avoid heavily populated recreation areas, wash your hands and practice hygienic etiquette, keep an eye on local public health announcements, and stay home if you are feeling sick.

Stay healthy! Opt outside.
