Description: The limekiln trail system is made up of 5 different trail segments totalling 7.5 miles of trails on BLM land. These trails lead up to or away from the limekiln peak loop which circumnavigates limekiln peak itself. There are many possible variations but most people start at the base of the limekiln peak climb. These trails are defined by smooth dirt with rock features and are a great option for beginner and intermediate mountain bikers /dirt bike riders.
This trail system often receives a lot of sun as it is on top of a small mesa. Therefore, this trail remains dryer than most through winter, and is a good option for all seasons. In winter, the north facing slopes can hold snow. Consider dropping south off Pura Vida as a winter descent.
SLVGO connection: In fall of 2025 the SLV GO! Goats trail crew alongside the Southwest Conservation Corps completed maintenance of this trail system.
Future planning: In summer of 2026 the BLM hopes to connect this trail system to the Spanish Trails Trailhead entirely with singletrack. Currently there is a small road connection needed.
