In Spring 2024, SLV GO! launched Cultivando Querencia, a community storytelling project that honors lived experiences and explores our shared relationship with land, water, and the great outdoors. Cultivando Querencia translates to “growing belonging,” and that’s exactly what this initiative aims to do.
Through community listening sessions with Latino/Hispano neighbors, we heard powerful stories about how past and present experiences shape — or sometimes don’t shape — a sense of place and belonging in the outdoors.
This work continues, with the goal of ensuring SLV GO!’s programs and the region’s public spaces are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for all. Together, we are growing belonging in the San Luis Valley’s great outdoors.
