Custom Outdoor Experience: Boettcher Foundation Board Retreat
SLV GO! was invited to create custom outdoor experiences for the Boettcher Foundation’s annual board of directors retreat in the San Luis Valley. The team designed and led both a biking tour and a historically themed walking tour, giving board members an opportunity to experience some of Alamosa’s distinctive community spaces, including Blanca Vista Park, Rio Grande Farm Park and Zapata Park.

Along the way, SLV GO! connected these places to the broader story of the community, exploring Alamosa’s founding and railroad history, the landmark Maestas case and the desegregation of local public schools, the student and farmworker movements, and the economic forces that have shaped the region. The result combined outdoor recreation, local history and contemporary community development into an experience designed specifically for the visiting group.
